Let's face it, people today are very dependent on their portable devices and without a phone, a connection to the internet or the ability to send and receive SMS messages, we feel pretty isolated. The solution is to own a smartphone. The problem with smartphones is that they consume a fair bit of battery power and if you can't make it through a day before your battery dies, many people feel that their world will end.
Today we will be looking at the PowerSkin silicon case with a built in battery for the Black Berry Bold 9700 & 9780. This adds 1150mAh to your device and should help you get through your day, or two or three.
In the packaging come the case and short USB charging cable that is about five inches long. In some ways it would be a lot nice to have a longer cable, but then it wouldn't be near as portable. The short length allows it to be easily stuffed into a laptop bag, briefcase or even your pocket. This cable will plug into any USB port on a computer or a USB wall-charger and this should make it pretty easy to find power for it device.
As I opened up the PowerSkin case for my BlackBerry Bold, my initial thoughts were that this just looked like another case and really was nothing all that special. However, when holding it, you will immediately notice that there is a difference. The PowerSkin case is quite heavy - due to the battery in the back, but also thanks to the heavy rubber. My first impression is that this is a quality product.
Before we jump into charging and testing out the PowerSkin, we'll take a look at the features and specifications on the next page.
