In the world of MP3 players, there isn't a whole lot that hasn't been done, and these days every new MP3 player on the market really doesn't have any new "never-been-done" features, most are just the same features in a different package, well Samsung has release a new model in their MP3 player lineup that looks to change this.
Today I'm going to take a look at Samsung's P2 MP3 player that includes a nice 3-inch touch-screen and Bluetooth for all of you that don't like to plug in to transfer music and listen to your music. While file transfer may be a bit slow, wireless Bluetooth headphones are pretty handy. Let's not waste any more time and get right into the review.
In The Box:
The contents of the box are pretty standard. Samsung throws in a Quick Start Guide, some earphones with replaceable foam pads, a software CD, and lanyard strap and of course the 8GB touch-screen media player. Not pictured below is a USB cable that is used for transferring data over the wire as well as charging the Lithium Polymer battery.
A Look at the P2:
When I read that the P2 came with a large 3-inch screen I immediately thought that this player would be pretty large. Upon receiving it I was pleased to see that it isn't too big and the screen size is achieved by a very wide-screen (or tall-screen) format that allows a lot of real-estate without being too physically large.
As I'm sure you can tell from the pictures above, this is a pretty nice looking unit and thanks to the WQVGA (480x272) screen. However, because of this unit is so glossy. You have probably noticed there are no buttons on the front and only volume, power, hold and play/pause buttons on the side. Most of these functions are available through the slick touch screen but if you don't want to grab and smudge up the screen all the time, there are a few buttons to give you some reprieve from all the fingerprints this unit acquires.
On the next page we'll cover the features and specs of the P2.
