Introduction:

Today we have a look at a product from Noctua that may not excite many of you at first, but when you consider than most of your system noise comes from fans, you may rethink the benefits of a nice case fan.  Noctua calls Austria home and has been in the cooling business since 2005.  They've actually done quite a bit of research when it comes to low-noise cooling products and the NF-P14 FLX is the result of their efforts to bring quite and powerful fans to the consumer.  This fan can be mounted to a heatsink that accepts 120mm fans, but today we are going to take a look at these fan in a case and see how extra airflow (without added noise) helps keep your entire system cool.

About Noctua:

Noctua comes from a cooperation of the Austrian Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H. with the Taiwanese cooling specialist Kolink International Corporation, pooling more than ten years of experience in the development, manufacturing and marketing of high-end cooling components. Established in 2005, Noctua took the international silent enthusiasts' hearts by storm and quickly developed into one of the most acclaimed suppliers of premium quality quiet cooling products. Today, Noctua is present in more than 30 countries across the globe and working with several hundred sales partners. Chosen by noise conscious PC users, system integrators and industry clients alike, Noctua has become synonymous with impeccable quality, excellent customer service and class leading quiet cooling performance.

Quality & Service:

In a market that's increasingly driven by cost saving rather than customer dedication and flooded with branded budget products, we take pride in striving for excellence both in product and service quality. For example, our heatsinks feature all soldered joints for maximum performance and durability, our fans' 150,000h+ MTBF is backed up by a full 6 years manufacturer's warranty and when AMD introduced AM2 and Intel introduced LGA1366, we provided thousands of users with mounting kits for free. As a result, an ever growing base of avid Noctua users not only swears by the thoroughgoing premium quality of our products, but also by our excellent, customer-friendly service.

First Impressions:

The Noctua NF-P14 FLX comes from a long line of cooling from the folks over at Noctua, and this 140mm fan uses adapters to let you run the fan at either 1200, 900 or 750 RPM which should allow you to find a good mix of airflow and noise. The NF-P14 FLX is looks like a larger version of Noctua’s original NF-P12 fans. Noctua’s original NF-P12 fans become known for excellent air flow to noise ratio, and Noctua has tried to take the new NF-P14 FLX  fans to the next level with an extra 2cm form factor.  They do this while providing mounting compatibility with 120mm mounts.
