NotePal U Stand First Look:
Cooler Master asked if I wanted to look at this last week as it was launching and they were hoping to get a "launch review" done on it. With a bit of hustle, we managed to get it out the door and have confidence is this review as we had the U Stand for quite a couple of weeks and have thoroughly tested it. Before we dive into the testing, let's take a peek at the unit below.
The U Stand is designed to hold up to 17" laptops and has a very solid mechanism for raising up the laptop from it's default low-profile position. This not only provides more comfort for your neck - no matter how tall you are as you can raise the screen to eye-level. It also helps keep your laptop cool as there is unrestricted airflow under the stand. The U Stand comes with three extra USB ports as well as a switch to toggle power to the fans. If you are just looking for a passive stand, the U Stand works for that. If you need extra cooling, the U Stand can help you out there as well. The standard mini-USB cable plugs into a regular USB port on your laptop, the mini-USB port on the stand and then provides power to the fans and extra USB ports. On the next page we'll cover the specifications features before we jump into testing.
