Cybercrime on the rise?

According to two new reports, the internet is seeing a rise in cyber crime and is warning people to be extra careful. Unfortunately the reports were from Symantec and McAfee, both which would be more than happy to sell you programs to help prevent threats like they are reporting so you might want to take this with a grain of salt. Regardless, its a good reminder to make sure you are keeping an up to date virus detector and be careful when poking around strange websites or opening weird emails. MSNBC has the details.

Two new reports issued this week by America's top computer-security firms address the current state of cybercrime. If the reports are to be believed, the virtual world is a pretty scary place.

Symantec's 2012 Norton Cybercrime Report and McAfee's second-quarter Threats Report both say that cybercrime is enjoying exponential growth at rates neither company has seen before.
