Android App Pick - Duolingo

Application: Duolingo

It’s hot, sunny and yes, it’s that time of the year again – Summer Time!  In the summer, many people often have time to travel and if you’re travelling outside of your country you will probably encounter some language barriers.  It’s always nice to know a little bit of the culture of the country you are visiting.  Many people carry a translation dictionary that helps them nail down some key words to help communicate.  With all of that in mind, today’s technology brings a lot of ways to learn languages and help communicate.  Duolingo is a different and fun way to learn different languages.

Duolingo is a great way to learn words to help you be get by a little better in the country you’re visiting –or at the very least, impress your friends.  This app will start you off with some basics and when you pass that you move on to the next section of words such as food, clothing or actions.  If you don’t master it, you can try again.  This can be pretty simple but – like with learning any language – can get difficult to keep words and sentences together.

You start with just a few words and some lessons will ask you to match the word with the image, or it will require you to type it out among other things.  Each level and lesson will let you know if you got it right and will let you know the right answer if you messed up.  This app is a great way to learn languages with some fun tossed in.  It’s great for any age and will help you brush up on, or learn a new language.

Get smart in a fun way with Duolingo!
