Android App Pick - WiFi Mouse

Application: WiFi Mouse

Good morning!  I just got back from an amazing weekend called Youth Explosion. It was awesome as I got to chill out with some youth, participate in some games, workshops and worship as well run some of the tech stuff.  I made sure I packed everything and was good to go for the even.  Sometimes though I do forget my mouse.  Thankfully if you have a laptop, you can use your trackpad!  Some things work better with a mouse though when you’re in a hurry.  Say hello to WiFi Mouse!  I saw this on a news article when they were doing their top apps, and this one jumped out and sounded interesting.  I gave it a shot and I definitely see why it would make any top list!

How cool is it to have a mouse on your phone or tablet? Simply download the app, then go to http://wifimouse.necta.us/ to download the server software on your PC as well.  It needs to install in both places so you can sync and communicate with the WiFi.  Turn on your WiFi on the phone as well as on the PC and try to connect automatically – or enter your IP address manually.  Once connected you can click and scroll like your normal mouse.  It even shows a mouse graphic and the scroll wheel.  The Play Store has these instructions to use the mouse:

  • Tap-to-click
  • Tap and move for drag
  • Two finger tap for right click
  • Two finger scroll
  • Pinch to zoom(pro)
  • Three finger drag & drop or highlight
  • Four finger swipe down to show desktop(Pro only)
  • Four finger swipe up to maximise current window(Pro only)
  • Four finger swipe sideways to change current window focus(Pro only)
  • Left handed mouse support (swap left and right mouse click)

It’s pretty cool that you can use the keyboard on your device and type on the screen!  The pro version can do more than the free version, but if you want basic functions, the free version will get the job done!
