Apple Music is Helping Spotify

When Apple talked about getting into the streaming music business with a subscription model, many people were worried that having a giant in the room would crush all the little guys. Included in the area of concern was Spotify. Since Apple joined the streaming music game, Spotify has been growing - and in fact growing at a faster rate than before Apple started to compete. The fact is that Apple Music sucks and is pushing more and more people to the competition.

"Since Apple Music started, we've been growing quicker and adding more users than before," Forster said. The Spotify vice president went on to explain that the streaming business "would be terrible" if competing companies were just swiping each others' users or if there was some cap to the number of customers. "I don't think that's the case," he said. Spotify announced in March that it has 30 million paying subscribers as well as a free ad-supported tier.
