Game Mode in Windows 10 to Improve Performance

Microsoft is hard at work making sure that consumers demand Windows 10 Universal Apps for their games. How is that you say? Well, they are working on a new mode for Windows 10 that will do some major optimizing and boost performance on your favorite games. While this sounds awesome (who doesn't love better performance for free?), I bet the catch will be that it will only work on games purchased through the Windows Store. If they pull this off, that will put pressure on developers to market their games through the Microsoft Store - making Origin and Steam suffer.

Our own sources have said this feature works similarly to how Xbox One handles running a game. Xbox OS, when a game is launched, will allocate resources to make sure the game is running the best it possibly can. Up until now, Windows hasn't had a built-in option for this that benefits games directly, but with the Creators Update that will be changing.
