Drone Crash Knocks Out Power in Silicon Valley

Technology and stupidity don't mix and that's why 1,600 homes in Silicon Valley went dark last Thursday evening. A drone pilot that may or may not have been trying to spy on his neighbor, managed to direct his drone into a power line and this not only turned the drone very crispy, it also cost the power company a bunch of money as power was out for a few hours. This is not awesome and shows why some people just can't have nice things.

Now the city is trying to track down the operator responsible for the crash. Witnesses at the scene describe a white adult male with white hair who fled the scene in a white hatchback car. If caught, the drone operator could face charges of operating the craft within an FAA restricted zone. The block where the accident occurred, 200 Polaris Avenue, is around 1.5 miles from the NASA Ames Research Center and Moffett Airfield.
