Evercool Buffalo CPU Cooler Final Thoughts:

As soon as I saw the retail price of the Evercool Buffalo (at time of publishing ~$20.00 USD) my expectations for the Evercool Buffalo sank a little bit and I wasn't expecting much from this cooler. I was however proven very wrong by this small and affordable cooler, and as we saw in our testing it offered a 9 degree improvement over stock cooling and ran only a couple degrees warmer than the much larger (and much more expensive) Evercool Transformer 4 (Full Review Here).

The Buffalo cooler isn't the quietest cooler we've had on the bench, however it wasn't excessively noisy either, but due to the 100mm heatsink fan running at ~1800 RPM it does make a bit more noise than other coolers we've tested. In most cases you probably won't hear this fan over top of other system noise, but obviously for someone who has purchased other silent components this cooler might not be the cooler of choice.

As soon as you open the box for the Buffalo, you'll notice very quickly that it's a pretty simple cooler and right out of the box the cooler comes ready to install (all installation brackets come pre-installed). There is no additional mounting hardware for the Buffalo cooler, all you get is the hardware necessary to install this cooler on the Intel Core i7 line of coolers and a tube of thermal paste and that's all. It was actually a nice change not to have to sort through a pile of brackets to find the ones necessary for installation, and thanks to Evercool using the same mounting hardware as stock cooling the entire process of getting this cooler unpackaged and installed will be under 10 minutes from start to finish.

At the end of the day it's pretty easy to like the Buffalo CPU cooler from Evercool. While this might not be the quietest cooler we've tested, it is most definitely one of the most affordable cooler and offers much better performance than stock cooling can. Thanks to the extremely affordable price tag and the surprisingly good performance the Evercool Buffalo CPU cooler has earned out "Editor's Choice" award. If you're looking for a cooler for your new Intel Core i7 CPU that won't break the bank, you're going to want to check out the Evercool Buffalo CPU Cooler.
