Introduction:
Thermaltake is a company that doesn't need much of an introduction. They've been at the Power Supply game for quite a while and they've been making cases even longer. Today we are looking at one of their mainstream power supplies that is built for the enthusiast and gamer. This is a 750W Modular PSU that has a few cables hard-wired to the unit and a decent selection of add-on cables available for those of you who want to beef up a system. It's not a super high-end PSU and this makes it quite affordable. Keep on reading as we find out if it can deliver more than just a decent price tag.
First Impressions:
While many companies are starting to move away from the Modular line, Thermaltake generally has two versions of their enthusiast oriented power supplies. The same is true with the TR2 series. Although these are designed with the mainstream PC in mind, they still offer the standard TR2 PSU as well as the TR2 RX - the RX version is modular.
As you'll notice in the image above of the bundle, the PSU is not entirely modular. It does come with a few cables attached. These include two PCIe cables, an 8-pin power cable as well as the 24-pin main motherboard connector. The presentation is pretty decent and the included cables appear to cover just about everything we'll need in a mainstream PC.
First Look:
The appearance of the 750W TR2 RX power supply is really nothing special. It comes in a very standard size that has decent rear ventilation that should take full advantage of the 140mm fan. Asyou can see below, there really aren't a lot of modular cable connections on this PSU. In addition to two extra PCIe cables, there is only room for two more Molex cables and two SATA cables. This should be enough for most people building a mainstream computer however.
