Samson Audio and NVIDIA on the Floor
As we traveled around the show floor we stopped in for an appointment with Samson Audio and took a look at some of their Zoom products. They are high end handheld recording devices that have incredible quality without having an astronomical price tag. The H2 Recorder is their entry-level unit that features condensers and quality that is unbelievable. Moving onward and upward is the H4n that features four condenser microphones as well as XRL/Mono jacks so that you can plug in your instruments and other hardware.
The Q3 is pretty interesting as it takes the quality of the H2 and combines that with the video capability of a Flip Camcorder. It may have a niche market, but it is pretty much the only unit in the class.
We stopped by the NVIDIA booth and got the goods on the GF100 graphics cards coming down the pipe and got to watch 3D demonstrations of gaming with this new card. It is a PhysX beast and does an incredible job rendering their scripted demos. Although AMD has Eyefinity and can power up to 6 displays from a single card, NVIDIA is the only company that offers 3D gaming spanned across three monitors. While this seems gimicky, don't knock it until you've tried it.
I shot quite a bit of video at the NVIDIA booth and I didn't have the opportunity to edit and get it posted. I will be following up with the video next week once we get back to reality. You'll be able to see NVIDIA DX11 in action. It is interesting to see that all of the specs for the GF100 haven't been all tapped out yet as they are waiting to see what kind of yields they can get from it. Even though we saw it running at CES 2010, it is still a while out yet as there are a lot of things to tweak, fix and nail down. We'll know a lot more in a month I'm sure.
