Title: Thanks for your help.......BUT...
Post by: Learnin on December 16, 2007, 01:16:23 pm
Thanks for your help with the Samsung 226BW series monitor, all that information made me decide to not even bother purchasing it and going through the hassel of finding a S panel. So I found this new monitor and I was wondering if anyone knows if it's better then a samsung 226bw...or just any information about it in general.

ViewSonic VX2240w

It has a 4000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
1000:1 contrast ratio
2ms response time.

The Viewsonic should be a good display - as it is one of their higher end displays.  I recently picked up a VA2226w and while it is a decent monitor, viewing angle is quite fussy and if you look at it from the top down the colors are super washed out.  I've seen the VX2240w and the VX series is a significant improvement over the VA series.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the 1000:1 contrast ratio, I bet it's more like 500:1 in the real world.  But the VX series is a very nice series, and I'm sure you'd be very happy with it.

Okay, this is the big decision I must make. It's going to be an xmas gift for someone.

If you could chose between the ViewSonic VX2240w monitor. Or the Samsung 226BW S Panel monitor. Which one would you choose?

Price does not matter since they are around $30 in the difference.

Thanks

I think either one is a good choice, and you can go either way and not be disappointed

Personally I'd go with the Samsung 226bw if I could be guaranteed it was going to be a S-Panel, mainly because I prefer the physical appearance of the Samsung monitors

But finding an S panel isn't all that easy, and really isn't worth the hassle, so if I was walking into the store right now I'd probably walk out with a Viewsonic because its just not worth the hassle to me
