Title: Anyone using a Coolit Domino A.L.C.?
Post by: dhoshaw on May 28, 2010, 04:23:01 pm
I know it's not the latest & greatest, but I got a good price on it (free). Anyone using one and if so on what cpu? I have an oc'd q9550 and I'm not sure that it could keep it cool.

There are alot of nightmare stories about the Domino leaks; if I was you I would not use it.

I think it could keep up with your CPU, although you probably won't set any temperature records.

I don't personally have the Domino, but we've used it on our test bench for quite a while and never had any issues

I've been lucky with my Domino.  I've been using it non-stop since day 1 without issues.  I know Fujitsu has had some leakage issues in the past though.  Leaks aren't as deadly as you'd think though...

I have a domino that I have messed around with a bit but the leak horror stories have made me hesitant to keep it installed for daily use.

Thanks for the replies. Looking at my case (HAF 922), I don't think the Domino will fit with the 200mm side fan in place. Might try it in my 2nd or 3rd computer if I get some spare time.

The Domino has been replaced with the E.C.O. which solves compatibility issues with large side fans.  The good news is that the price is about the same - under $70 if you shop around.

the eco looks like a nice improvement over the Domino.  As long as it doesn't have leak issues I think it will do pretty well

I've been using mine on a test rig for a bit over a month with no issues whatsoever

I think if Coolit can get their QA/QC program up to where you don't hear about leaks their products will start to take off.  You can see from the Corsair H50 that there is a market for these self contained liquid coolers.  Corsair has done very well because they aren't known for their quality and you never hear about leaks.  I have run into a single thread that showed evidence of a H50 leaking.

It takes a while to shake a reputation of leaking because that really is the biggest reason people avoid watercooling.

Even if only 1 in 10,000 fail, it still nags you in the back of your mind and you worry that you might be that unlucky person
