VulcLAN III
« on: July 28, 2005, 09:20:10 am »
Hey Guys,
Well I was hoping to get a feel for the next big LAN Party. I would like some feed back as to the last LAN and if we want to look at the same place or if we should look at a different location.
Is MArch a good time for everyone again. Can I assume that we should make this a yearly thing? would that work for everyone.
I would like to start getting some things in the process by end of sept. Like contacting ATI and NVidia for donations.
start a webpage like last time for registration and such.
That way starting Jan 1 we can fire up the webpage and post a link for registration. As you all know I like giving lots of notice for these things cause I don't like people giving me the excuse that they didn't know about it!

If i can get some feedback from those that were at the last LAN and even those that helped setup.
Thanks

the only thing I'd suggest again, is maybe seeing if we can book the Vulcan Legion Ballroom instead (If the price is comparable)

Just have more parking, space, and no big set of stairs, and no dances upstairs

I though the last one went well, the only problem I had was trying to find the place as it didn't have much of a sign on it.  I know we had the map but I think the map showed it to be on the other side of the street which caused us to get lost for a while.

I kind of hang my head in shame as I found a way to get lost in Vulcan, but yeah the stairs were kind of annoying and parking wasn't too good.

I think it was Pace that got us lost Lobb, it was you and me that expertly navigated our way back!

Hey Guys,
Its been 2 weeks and I still don't have any solid feed back. I would really like you guys to give me an idea of what you would like to see.
Of course this is no Fragapalooza, but I want to make it as enjoyable as possible for everyone. Of course the bigger the better.

If you can please get people to log in and give some feed back and input.
Thanks

March is not a bad time at all.  I'd be up for a little BF2 by then.  I'm looking forward to the UT2K4 even more though.  Thumbs up!!

March is a busier time for me with everyone getting their taxes back and needing that upgrade. But I shouldn't have any problem being there unless Nicao beats me in UT2k4.

Guys,
The feedback i'm looking for is example:
-games to play
-any tournaments
-pros/cons of the last LAN
-things you'd like to see this time around

I'll be looking into Fuji's request for going to the Legion. as of right now thats the only thing thats really been asked. Even if you can't make it to the LAN.

The date is set for March sometime. That is non negotiable.

I'd certainly like to see a tournament there.  If we can get as many as last time we can split into 4 teams of 6 and play some round robin.  I'm thinking that BF2 is going to be the game of choice by then even though I do not have the game presently.  Either that or maybe there will be some exciting new HL2 mods out by then.

The last lan was great but IMHO suffered from lack of any organization for the games.  There was no point, no purpose to winning and being only the 2 teams didn't make for much comradare.  Then again I am and probably always will be an adrenaline gamer, so that's why I enjoy fierce competition.

Yes tournaments are already my top priority for this LAN.
I honestly was shocked by the number of people that came out.

I was already thinking of a 6 vs 6 BF2 tourny
I really want to try and keep UT out of this LAN as I would like to have a Official UT LAN as we are having in sept.
But I"m willing to maybe have a VERY SMALL UT tourny this time.
and i'm currently looking into a few other games.

If you looking at new games what ones would these be?? I have bf2 sitting on top of my desk but havent really played it was waiting for a format of hard drive to install fresh on... I still think that the first 4-6 hrs play one game then try another, if ppl dont have the things needed then they take the time to get it done, we have lots of time till then to get the "patches" or "game" or "files" you show up ready if not oh well..

Long shot, but where would this take place because I would be interested in some UT2K4 if it was in my area.

About 1 hour south of Calgary Alberta, in a small town called Vulcan, hence the VulcLAN.
