Zune HD to ship with "Apps" capability
It seems that the Zune HD has been handled quite a bit lately and it appears that there is an Apps menu under the Marketplace.  This takes the Zune HD from being merely a media player to a multi-function device.  Is this good or bad?  It seems more like an iPod Touch wanna'be more now than ever before.

XP, Vista or Windows 7: Which OS is more secure?.
Although XP has been out for over 5 years and has been issued three service packs, it still has the most flaws.  Vista comes in second and although it is still early, Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 seem to be very secure.  In the last 12 months we've seen:
Windows XP: 22 Critical, 16 Important
Windows Vista: 18 Critical, 11 Important

Jason believes the flaws are directly related to the amount of users and people that are hacking according to the user-base.  We'll check back in six months on episode #29.

IE 8 Found to Be Safest Web Browser In Studies Funded by Microsoft
It's very pathetic that Microsoft would solely fund and publish the study that they paid for.  While other companies were contacted regarding funding, only MS responded.  They shouldn't have published the results because now they look like they paid for the positive publicity - which isn't so positive anymore.

Seven Crimes That Will Get You a Smaller Fine than File-Sharing.
1. Child abduction: the fine is only like $25000.
2. Stealing the actual CD: the fine is $2,500
3. Rob your neighbor: the fine is $375,000
4. Burn a house down: The fine is just over $375,000
5. Stalk someone: The fine is $175,000
6. Start a dogfighting ring: the fine is $50,000
7. Murder someone: The maximum penalty is only $25,000 and 15 years in jail, and depending on your yearly salary, would probably be far slighter a penalty that $2 million.

The amount of money the RIAA slaps on someone is ludicrous.

The Pirate Bay In Troubled Waters After Court Ruling
The court is still raining down fire and brimstone on the Pirate Bay and has pulled the plug on their ISP.  Thankfully, others have pitched in, but it can't last forever.

Blizzard: Lack of StarCraft LAN Is No Big Deal.
StarCraft is highly anticipated, but it seems that you won't be able to play in on a LAN unless you have an internet connection.  This is to control users and keep pirates from having fun at a LAN party.  The problem is that if you're at a large LAN with no internet, or a firewall, you're screwed.

XBOX 360 Failure Rate Reaches 54%
Even after you've had the first failure, it seems that 41% of people have had a second failure.  These seem to be the deadest console around. . . repeatedly.  They come back, and die again - like a zombie.

When asked about the 54% failure rate a Microsoft spokesman responded "our XBox 360 is a great entertainment system". They neither acknowledged or denied the number.

Nice graphic, although it appears that the actual failure rate is a little higher than that - not according to Microsoft though.

RE: StarCraft 2 and lack of LAN support.
Ironically, I think more people will end up turning to crackers to add LAN functionality to SC2 since Blizzard decided not to add LAN to discourage pirates.

Same here.  The last console I owned was a Dreamcast.  It was a great system but the CD drive dying is a common problem with that console.
