Telus finally goes HSPA+ - Soft Of 1:17
Telus has finally launched a GSM/HSPA+ network that uses the single 1900MHz band and works only for HSPA devices.  Bell is also involved here in Canada as they share the network infrastructure.  Bell is being super generous and has an offer to unlock your phone for a mere $250.

Seven Things to do after installing Windows 7. 6:50
GeekSmack has a good guide that helps you do seven of their favorite tweaks and hints that allow you to get started right and start your Windows 7 experience on the right foot.  It’s a good starter guide for sure.

Dell Adamo XPS Hands On: Insanely Thin and Insane 14:56
Gizmodo has their hands on the Adamo XPS from Dell that is micro thin and has a Core 2 Duo that runs at super low wattage.  I’m hoping to play with one of these in the near future.  Would you use a laptop that is thinner than an iPhone?  Daniel would use a designer purse if he didn’t have to pay for it by the way.

VIA Introduces New VIA Nano 3000 Series Processors 20:05
VIA one again releases another competitor to the Intel Atom processor with the VIA Nano 3000 series.  These processors have faster FSB, lower idle power consumption and are true 64-bit processors.  The only thing they need to beat is the Intel marketing machine.  Here’s hoping!

Modern Warfare 2 PC Multiplayer Capped at 9v9 . 23:28
It seems that game publishers are willing to keep putting the screws to PC Gamers as they have completely ignored a petition that contains close to 200,000 signatures to keep dedicated servers and improve – not cripple multiplayer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  PC Gamers are no longer the big target and this proves that publishers don’t care.  I’d think that dedicated server companies should care though.  Maybe they’ll continue to get the business from the software company directly.
John Carmack: No Dedicated Servers for Rage so  it looks like this trend is already gaining momentum.

AT&T sues Verizon over there’s A Map For That 31:00
Apparently people need more excuses to spend money so they dream up ads that get them sued.  If it is nothing more than tax evasion or economic stimulation – it’s brilliant.  We don’t need that kind of economic stimulation here at Weekly Tech Update however.

- Good to me my copy of Windows 7 didn't came with crap software O0 But the best of all, I got it completely free :D  Yesterday I reinstalled it, but I still need to configure it in the way I like ::)
- Pretty cool laptop, but I still want a Alienware laptop  >:D
- Well, I hated when a lot of people were playing Cod4 in little maps because there were a lot of grenades exploding everywhere :o So you were appearing from death and somebody kill you with a explosion >:( I have not played MW2 yet, but not allowing dedicated servers was a bad idea :tickedoff:

For the record, multiplayer has nothing to do with steam.  Steam is merely the friends list and download source.  Dedicated servers and steam can exist side by side.  The people to blame for lack of dedicated servers is Infinity Ward.

I was anticipating Modern Warfare 2 like many other PC gamers but the announcement of 9v9 multiplayer cap (along with no dedicated server/mod support) made my rethink my purchase. I ended up buying Left 4 Dead 2 instead for the incredible mod and Valve support (SDK is coming out soon) and the inclusion of dedicated servers alongside p2p support.

Leaving your wallet in your pocket is really the only language that game companies understand, I doubt they could care less about people complaining about the removal of PC gaming features as long as they're moving their product. It's sorta sad to see these features gone, but with the amazing success of Modern Warfare 2 I can't see them really being too worried about bringing back these feature in future releases....

That's true. At least other companies have noticed and are addressing the concerns of PC gamers. EA and Dice recently mentioned that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will include dedicated server support as well as DirectX 11.

So far I'm glad with my decision to purchase Left 4 Dead 2 over Modern Warfare 2. The low pings are great with local servers and the host abandoning the game has no effect on the general smoothness of an online campaign.

MW2 also have not curbed hackers from getting in.  Everytime I come across one hacking I just reconnect to a different game.  It's definitely annoying and not as satisfying as seeing them get kicked and banned.

It's dissappointing to see more and more PC developers take this route (like Blizzard with Star Craft 2), although  BF: BC2 and MoH Reborn look very promising, and I defintiely can't wait until their release since both are going to have dedicated servers.
