CES 2011 - Zalman

On our last day of CES 2011 we had the chance to check out the Zalman suite where they were showing off their new product lineup for 2011. We've taken a look at quite a few Zalman products over the years and its always interesting to see what they are working on.

Zalman is probably best known for their CPU coolers, and they've got a few new products that they've just announced.

The CNPS9900 Max is a new cooler being shown off and is an updated version of the CNPS9900 LED (our full review of the CNPS9900 LED can be found here).

Zalman was also showing off some of their "budget" coolers that they will be selling in 2011 which included the new CNPS7X LED cooler.

Zalman was also showing off some of their "budget" coolers that they will be selling in 2011 which included the new CNPS7X LED cooler (pictured below, left).

Also being shown off was Zalman's new lineup of hard drive enclosures. Both models that were shown to us feature a LED screen which will help show you how much room is left on the drive as well as transfer speeds. On the more expensive model you can also use the LCD screen to mount a .iso file which can then be used to boot your computer off of (or have it act as a virtual drive). Zalman has definitely taken a little different approach to the hard drive enclosure but these features set them apart from most of the other enclosures available now.

Also being showcased was Zalman's lineup of SSD hard drives. Zalman has a N-Series and a S-Series which feature different controllers (N-Series has the SandForce controller and S-Series has the JMicron controller). Both series feature drives up to 128GB (the S-Series will eventually be available in a 256GB version).

More information on the S-Series SSD's can be found here.

The S-series of SSD's from Zalman now feature a USB 2.0 connection which will allow you to quickly connect your SSD to your computer without having to hook it up to power and a SATA connection.

Zalman was also showing off some other their other products which included a new lineup of video card coolers and fans. Zalman has been doing video card coolers for a while but these new products being shown off will be compatible with the new cards from both NVIDIA and ATI.

Also being shown off were Zalman's new power meters that will allow you to monitor just how much power your system is using, these monitors can be mounted in an empty 5 1/4" bay or pretty much anywhere else you have some room.

Zalman has also announced a new case in their GS lineup, the new GS 1200 case. We've taken a look at the previous version which was the GS 1000+ (our full review can be found here). The new GS 1200 case features improved cooling and a new hot-swap drive bay on the top of the case for easy hard drive docking.

While the GS 1200 case is a bit more on the high end of cases, Zalman has also released their Z9 case which is aimed at a sub-$100 dollar price range. Zalman doesn't want it to be referred to as a "budget" case because they've gone to great lengths to ensure a top quality product with high end features, so we'll just refer to it as a "sub-$100 dollar case".

Zalman has also been working on their 3D monitor lineup, and this year they were showing off a 24 inch and a 32 inch at CES 2011. The 24 Inch model is currently available (although due to demand they have become back ordered), however the 32 inch model is still at the "prototype" stage (so don't expect to see it in store anytime soon).

That concludes our visit to Zalman at CES 2011, they've got a bunch of new products that you should be seeing on store shelves in 2011 and we look forward to taking a closer look throughout the year.
