Introduction:

Today we'll be taking a look at the Thermaltake eSPORTS MEKA G1 gaming keyboard.  As I'm sure you're aware, Thermaltake is well known for its computer cases, high end CPU and GPU cooling systems and power supplies.  Recently Thermaltake decided to hit the market with high end gaming keyboards, mice, mouse pads and headphones.  Let's take a look at the new Thermaltake MEKA G1 gaming keyboard.

Box

First impression:

The first thing I thought of when I was opening the box was this was going to be another run of the mill keyboard.  Boy was I wrong.  As I took the MEKA G1 out of the box, I saw that it had a really thick wound military grade cable.  It also comes with two USB ports and two sound inputs.  This is so you can plug your headphones or speakers and whatever else you want directly into the keyboard.  It also comes with a standard keyboard jack in case you don't have the room for another USB input.

Turning the MEKA G1 upside down you'll notice four really soft, non-slip rubber feet that will make sure the board will not move - even during the hardest and most intense game-play. The MEKA G1 also has a detachable wrist rest which I find very comfortable.  It too has four soft rubber feet.  The MEKA G1 has pop-down feet that allow you to adjust your typing angle to your comfort level and still make contact with the rubber feet.

On the next page we'll take a quick look at the specifications before we jump into testing.

Testing:

I played Call Of Duty Black Ops for over 125 hours on this keyboard and I could not be happier with it's performance.  I found only one unfortunate flaw however.  My main keys I use in the game are already wearing off.  I understand that it is only cosmetic but when Thermaltake advertises 50,000,000 key strokes, I would hope the letters would not fade away.  I suggest that Thermaltake redesigns the keys with some kind of a urethane coating or makes clear plastic caps that you can put over your main gaming keys...at least six of them.

Conclusion:

The Thermaltake MEKA G1 keyboard is not the fanciest of all keyboards, but its simple design and response time has put all other keyboards I've ever used for gaming to shame.  I would have to say that this MEKA G1 is by far the best keyboard I have ever used. I am scoring the Tt eSPORTS MEKA G1 a solid 9.7/10 and I hope Thermaltake keeps making these top of the line products.
