Could you guys review this HDMI cable.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]Will Microsoft`s Tablets be too late?

Today the guys over at Techi.com are asking the question "Will Microsoft's Tablets be too late to hit the market"? As the tablet market has exploded over the past couple years thanks to the success of the Apple iPad its not too surprising that everyone is scrambling to cash in on this new market. Microsoft has held off on releasing anything due to them wanting to have Windows 8 on their tablet which will provide a better user experience but the completion of Windows 8 could st. . .

I think if they do it right it's not going to be too late. Technology is fickle and there are a lot of users that would happily switch os's with their next tablet upgrade.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]Embrace it - Facebook Modern Messaging

LifeHacker tells the world why we should all embrace the new Modern Facebook Messaging System  and after reading about it.  I tend to agree a bit.  I'm glad it's opt-in at this point and I recommend you head on over and find out what makes it amazing.  I'm going to try and find how easy it will be to opt-out once I opt-in.  Mark has a wa. . .

Umm so now you are going to give more of your personal and private data to a company that has a terrible track record of security, selling all your data to 3rd parties, changing ownership rights/privacy repeatedly, and has admitted that it has a very low opinion of your intelligence. No thanks.

If you're looking for a new game to play but don't have a lot any money right now, check out Alien Swam being given away through the Steam network.  It's a top-down, four player co-op game that actually looks pretty interesting.  It won't even cost you a cent - unless you're over your bandwidth cap for the month.

I've played this mod for UT2K4 and the arcade version on the xbox 360.  It is one of the funnest coop experiences ever.  Unless of course you are Bonerak.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]Is Digg.com Dead?

2010 has not been a good year for Digg.com. In the past couple months they've seen traffic drop by 13.8 million unique visits which is a 36% drop in traffic. With the surge of Facebook and Twitter is Digg.com just another internet casualty? Website Magazine takes a closer look at Digg.com and the current pickle they are in.

   According to the l. . .

Digg is becoming the new Fark.com.  Starts out good but like a lot of user based content on the internet it just devolves to become a soft porn site.  It's too bad really since I don't do facebook or twitter.

If you hate the analog wallet like your dad, there may be a better choice coming down the pipe.  The iWallet  can be configured to keep your stuff safe by biometrics, bluetooth and more.  If you're all about hi-tech the iWallet may be for you.  I'd take one - or two and give one as a

I'd love to see the iwallet meet an ihammer and then we'll see how secure it is.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]JooJoo`s Refunds Smell Awfully Fishy

After more and more delays, many people are starting to demand refunds and cancel their pre-orders for the infamous JooJoo tablet.  I don't blame them, but it appears that there may be a run-around happening that may prevent you from getting your money back right away.  It almost sounds like a Nigerian scam.  Don't believe me?  Check out Gizmodo's email log  - and the. . .

Not as fishy as it seems. Having to deal with customers like this toad, I actually sympathize with Fusion Garage on this one.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]Zune HD Set For Failure

As much as I love the Zune brand and the features of the Zune Marketplace, I have to agree with Wired when they say that Microsoft has set up the Zune HD for failure.  Most (open minded, eg. not Apple Fanboys) are pretty excited about the Apps features of the Zune HD, but it appears that Microsoft has selected a few third-party developers for this feature and it won't be open for outside developer. . .

That is a HUGE mistake.  Even worse than apple I might add.  There is no way I would buy that device without open 3rd party developer support.

I think the article was saying why Linux should be your "Netbook" OS, not "next" OS.  Good article none the less.

I know several big-box haters.  There is something to be said for that for sure.  I certainly have a problem with paying Adobe their $1500 for a single copy of PhotoShop CS(whatever).  At the same time "Elements" is a little weak, but I've never become comfortable enough with GIMP  to really make me happy.  LifeHack. . .

There's another port/hack mentioned in the comments http://www.gimphoto.com/ that looks even better.  All the better for me, as I've been using gimp more and more lately in an effort cut out as much large $ paid software.

OpenOffice 3 replaced Office
Evolution replaced Outlook
Gimp replaced Photoshop

Looks like Photoshop will be getting GPU and Physics Acceleration in the future, which could really speed things up and take their software to the next level. TGDaily has the full story over here,  but from the sounds of it, the next version of Photoshop could be a whole lot faster thanks to this acceleration. The next version of Photoshop is expected to be released in early October.

Apparently this article and especially the date are not entirely truthful.

Looking to get rid of a Core 2 Duo E6600 with MSI 965 NeoF motherboard.  The cpu is an awesome overclocker, the motherboard is a very basic model, but has been very stable for me.

$175 for the pair.

Microsoft has released a new mobile internet browser called Deepfish  that aims at making your handheld web browsing as easy and simple as browsing on your desktop computer.  This software has surfaced before, but is now available as a public beta.  If you've got a handheld device you know how painful browsing the web is on your device.  Pages appear jumbled and everything loads slowly.  Deepfis. . .

I bet the cellphone carriers are just loving this.  Now it will cost you $10 to load up your favorite movie site so you can check the listings because its going to be pulling everything.

Nice name though,  I wish Microsoft was sleeping with the fishes all right.  Oh well it keeps my psychologist in business.

For Sale/Trade / WTB: MBO + CPU
« on: January 23, 2007, 10:27:04 PM »
I have a friend that wants to build a cheap media center PC.  I'm looking for a cpu and motherboard and maybe some other components.   Something around an Athlon 64 3200+ and matching board would be the right range.

Case Modding & Cooling / [Frontpage News]Antec P180 Case

Viperlair takes a look at a very nice case from Antec today.  They've got the Performance One P180 Mid-Tower case on the bench and seem to be quite impressed overall with this unit.  If you are looking for a nice aluminum case for a little over $100CDN, this case should do nicely.  Viperlair seems to be pretty impressed overall.

[div style=margin-left: 40px;]"[span . . .

Its an ok case I guess.  Having built a few of them myself I have to say there are a few design problems.  First if you are planning on running some long SLI cards it is a very tight fit.  Also having the power  supply below the motherboard means that you have to run the power wires way up to the top of the motherboard. This and the fact that the fan below has no grill and the cables from the PS and the HDDs tend to get caught in it.  Other than than those few issues I'd recommend it as a solid quiet chassis.
