Advertising works.  It's true.  I never wanted to buy an Ultrabook until I saw this commercial.

I spotted this demo the other day and thought it looked pretty cool.  Sadly, if this was downloadable/playable, I'd probably spend too much time breaking up the bits and then dragging stuff through them... I should just get a sandbox again.

That demo really needed a shovel and bucket. I lost interest in watching it after 20 seconds, but I left if running as I read the next news post. Then I looked up and I was wondering when  the bigger pieces were going to get broken up.. Any guesses when this ga... ahem, physics program will be released? ;)

LAN & General Gaming / LANParty at BoneRaks! Version 4.0
« on: October 18, 2011, 08:24:55 PM »
I didn't even realize it was the fourth year of the lanparty at my place until my auto complete filled in last years subject version 3.0.

Well I have been putting off telling everyone that I have a lanparty at my place this Saturday October 22nd. Allot of people heard it from my mouth, but if I hadn't bumped into you in the last two months, you might not have heard.

Everyone is welcomed. I'd say everyone I game with, but I haven't been doing allot of gaming (read: target!)
I got plenty of wood for the stove. And tomorrow I am going to make sure I get the power cables figured out so Zeus doesn't try to fry his computer with the half a city block of power he needs.  ;D

Well I hope to see everyone there.

Battlefield 3 Ready?

If you are getting excited for Battlefield 3 but want to make sure your PC is up to the task, NVIDIA has posted up a nice little GPU analyzer  that will help you determine if you need to spend another $500 on your system before you get the game.

Awe man. My GeForce 9800 GTX isn't good enough for Battlefield 3. Guess I'm going to have to play Call of Duty then.

Looks like the Samsung Galaxy S II is hitting stores in the United States on August 29th. This hasn't been confirmed officially yet but all the signs point to this being the case. The new version of the Galaxy S is going to feature a 4.5" screen, a bigger battery, LTE support (for faster downloads), and will be running Android's Gingerbread OS. Engadget ha. . .

My friend picked one of these up at Cosco last month.. Canada got the phone before the US?

What do you do if you're a big technology player - a huge technology player that want to try and be hip?  You hire a "musician" that knows nothing about technology - except that Xbox 360 is cooler than PS3 - and call him your "Director of Creative Innovation".  Nicely done Intel. This is about as wonderful as ha. . .

Ah come on Zeus, Where Is the Love? With Intel Inside, they think the whole worlds addicted to the drama Only attracted to the things that bring you trauma..
Intel can now say their i7's run cool overclocked. Because they lied and they cheated and they lied a little more.
Nononono baby, nononono don't lie.
Now I was just thinking. Maybe Intel's next product offering might be having stability issues. Let's Get It Started.

If you consider yourself a "true" computer geek, you've probably played around with Linux.  My opinion is that if you haven't compiled your own kernel, you're a noob.  I've done it once, but I still didn't score well on this Linux IQ test.  Take a look and see if you score better than 11 out of 20.

So you live and breathe Linux, eh? You'. . .

I got 11 of 20 also. And I know I was guessing at most of those questions. I loved the rm /* question.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]80% of TV Viewing Still in SD

Apparently the HD revolution hasn't really caught on like everyone has thought as a new survey found that 80% of TV viewing in the US is still done is Standard Definition. 56% of US households have a HD TV, but that still leaves 44% of people happy with SD TV's. It surprised me that the number was still that high, but Yahoo N. . .

I have a TV that does Standard Definition. I have a computer that Does Hight Definition. I have a laptop that struggles with full screen low resolution Standard Definition. So now lets see, would it make any sense to pay extra for Hight Definition if I can get the jist of what is going on in the show I am watching on my laptop? Plus higher costs in bigger bandwidth packages may also stop people from upgrading to HD. I know there is a number of times I have tried to set the level of video to HD, but my small pipe wouldn't handle it.

LAN & General Gaming / LANParty at BoneRaks! Version 3.0
« on: September 09, 2010, 03:05:48 PM »
Good day all.
It's getting close to that time a year again.
I am having a LANparty on Saturday October 23rd.  Again it is at my place in the garage (Got the wood for the stove already).
The game this year will be Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I still have my Unreal Tournament 3 server running, just incase the internet goes down and Modern Warfare 2 stops working.
Bring a couple bucks for Pizza or Chineese.

And to sum it up:

Who: Everyone I have gamed with at VulcLAN is welcomed
What: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 LANParty
Where: BoneRak's house in Lethbridge Alberta
When: October 23rd 2010.
Why: Skill honing, low ping LAN's are tough to beat for the close rivalry and high adrenaline rushes of good games.

If you believe everything you read on the internet, you'll find out that the parallel port is still a valid piece of connectivity.  Don't believe me?  Then take a look at this awesome pairing of dongles and adapters over at Gizmodo.

This one is one farther than I have seen it before. I have had a customer think it would work up to the serial port connection..

For Sale/Trade / WTB Digital InfraRed Thermometer with Laser Sight
« on: May 30, 2010, 07:10:36 PM »
I am looking for a Digital InfraRed Thermometer with Laser Sight.
I found one online at dealextreme.comfor $30US plus free shipping!
I am just wanting something easier to use than taping a thermal probe to different spots on a motherboard.
So if anyone has one of these lying around and would like some more pocket change, I would be interested in buying it.

Operating Systems & Software / Ubuntu 9.10 is here
« on: October 29, 2009, 08:19:16 AM »
After a successful Windows 7 Launch party at my place last weekend. And getting to see how Windows 7 runs on an older laptop. Time to see how the latest version of Ubuntu 9.10 will work on that laptop.
Download your free Operating System at Ubuntu
Just think, not having to worry about 99.9% of the virus's out there. And still be able to do your emailing, facebook, banking, and web surfing.
