General Mayhem / Re: [Frontpage News]80% of TV Viewing Still in SD

You can get HD channels through the air now, I think that some people are using that, mostly those of us who are too cheap to pay for TV. But I'd agree that only the hardcore video enthusiasts are willing to spend the extra money for paid HD channels.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]Firefox 4 gets faster, much faster
« on: November 15, 2010, 11:08:49 AM »

If you need to have the fastest web browser around then here is some good news for you. Firefox 4 is apparently faster (make that much faster) then before. CNET takes a look at all things Firefox 4 and if you are willing to use a beta browser then you might want to go get yourself Firefox 4 before its official release.

I actually like the new beta, its really good. I've actually stopped using chrome in favor of Firefox. The only thing is that most add-ons aren't compatible yet  :(

Operating Systems & Software / Re: The Big Browser Poll!

I'm definately a chrome guy, its worked for me, I havn't had any major problems with it yet.

In regards to your podcast I do use Firefox and IE from time to time since I'm taking a web development course and I need to know if my websites work with multiple browsers. But I havn't tried IE 9 yet, which I think I will at a later date.

One of the main reasons Chrome is my main browser is the inspect element feature, really nice for debugging web pages and seeing what a particular web page is made up of.

General Mayhem / [Frontpage News]Neflix in Canada - Now

Today marks the launch of Netflix in Canada.  While this is their streaming-only service, the usage of internet streamed content is probably more popular anyhow.  It looks like for $7.99 a month, you have access to a bunch of stuff including Superbad and Mad Men.  There is quite a bit of content that you should check out - especially since you can enjoy 1 month free.  Sign up at [a hre. . .

Whats the quality like for netflix? any good?

General Hardware / [Frontpage News]Athlon-II X2-255 CPU
« on: March 29, 2010, 06:55:47 PM »

BenchmarkReviews kicks off the morning with a look at a $75 CPU  from AMD that can get the job done.  This little dual-core wonder clocks in at 3.1GHz and doesn't use a whole lot of power to make it happen.  If you are on a budget and need a general purpose PC, consider powering it with one of these.

My opinion of AMD has changed significantly over the last year or so...I used to scorn AMD and now I'm promoting them to friends.  :)

« on: March 29, 2010, 06:40:52 PM »

I got a tweet yesterday from @Zune that there was interesting stuff coming soon from Zune.  Apparently, the interesting stuff is in the flavor of a 64GB Zune HD.  Although it isn't actually available yet, and in fact the link is currently broken over at, you can head on over and keep clicking  until the details emerge.

come on! bring these babies to Canada!

LAN & General Gaming / [Frontpage News]Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:43:48 PM »

:// appears that Infinity Ward is trying to appease people with a map pack for their latest title - Modern Warfare 2.  While this sounds great - 3 new maps and two old favorites, it appears that the map pack may be released exclusively for Xbox 360 users - at least initially.  What is more, it will set you back 8. . .

Well, not all is lost, even though they are releasing it on the xbox360 first (money grab) after 30 days "exclusivity" they will release it on the PC and PS3.

General Hardware / [Frontpage News]iPad Pre-Orders Now Available
« on: March 13, 2010, 06:10:55 AM »

We've dumped on the iPad from Apple and it has certainly received a ton of press - both negative and positive.  If you've been dying for one of these - the wait is over.  Well, not quite, but the wait to spend your money is over.  You can now pre-order your favorite iPad - WiFi only or WiFi + 3G.  3G will set you back an extra $130 no matter what size you choo. . .

Haha! just an oversized iPhone! I bet you that someone will create a phone out of that thing.

(I won't be buying one ;))

Ya, I am a big LAN party man, but lately I can't afford the time and/or money for most LANs...I even skipped Fragapalooza last year and will again this year  :'(
