Rumor has it that SP1 will be in our hands in beta form by december 31 of this year, probably best to hold off until then would be my guess. The only way to get Vista working "100%" is to buy it preinstalled from a large OEM

I have to agree here. I installed Vista on my Fiancee's machine, a new Tablet PC from HP (the tc4400). It was labeled for Vista and had the requirements. The drivers and installation were all flawless, and this was only due to HP standing behind their products and supplying a CD with those drivers and an automated install application. I only wish the same could be said of their printers, which lack full Vista support across the board; my Bluetooth  enabled printer does not work with her Vista machine, only with the XP machine and my n-gage. I guess I need to run it some ethernet.

Also, I've installed vista on my own rig and then deinstalled it less than 24 hours later when I found that not all the drivers were available and it disabled my game controllers.  Much love for Acronis True Image.

I have Vonage and have had it now for over 18 months. Works fine except when I saturate my DSL and then try to use the phone. So, don't download and talk at the same time or otherwise you'll need to look in to setting up QoS on your router.

Nope, the bios update will not force you to reinstall Windows XP. 

XP might detect some changes to the system which would display as new hardware when rebooted. That's not unusual, though, and is mostly due to some resets that may occur in hardware addressing, especially if your ECSD is altered.

Half the fun of any game is multi player and if I buy a game like Civ4, I want to play multi player with my wife, who also enjoys playing. It's been the norm for most of these types of multi player games to only require the CD at start time and then you can move the CD to a new station. In fact, if I recall, Command & Conquer advocated doing this so that more people would play their game and, ultimately, if a visiting friend liked it, they would buy it. Computer-related industries like games and other software vendors are sleeping with their legal teams these days, however, and now you can barely copy an MP3 you ripped from a CD that you've purchased (overpriced already) to a mobile player, iPod or not.

And this guy on the forum is probably sleeping with an RIAA lawyer.

SiSoft Sandra should be a good benchmark tool to test that ram, and it can do a burn-in as well. If you're concerned about checking the ram for errors, use memtest86.
