Sorry to hear about your problems Luvlyan. I hope you get it all sorted out soon.
I'm guessing that your PC works fine with your old power supply right?
Yup, I am using the stock power supply that came with my computer. It's a Bestec 300W.
I'm glad that the Ultra power supply did not destroy anything. :)

I sent an email to technical support at Ultra Products and they recommended me to return the power supply to them. They mentionned that I will need a copy of the invoice if I am to receive an RMA. I might do this, but I'll try and test this power supply on another PC first. Could you guys forward me the invoice just in case?

Alright, I'll check that out soon. At the moment though, I'm busy with school so I'll do it in some time. If not I'll just test it on another pc...

Alright, I'll see if I can a multimeter to test the power supply out. How do I check if it is properly grounded?

Sorry for the late reply, but the power supply was giving me some trouble. I finally got it into my tight case and here's a sexy picture for ya'll

Everything seemed to be fine, like the power supply would power up my system. But something odd happened. Welcome screen of Windows started getting ripples near the edges and poof! the computer turned off. It happened a few times and I hope I didn't break anything. I have no idea what happened, but I checked all the cables and it seems to be fine. My motherboard is a S939 socket one, the AMD one. Weird thing though is that I swapped the power supply back to my original one and it works like a charm. Either the power supply is incompatible with my system or it's unstable :( Any ideas?

Yesh, I noticed that you stuck your own shipping label on top of the original one from Ultra. It's okay, I don't blame you. Ultra is most likely new to this whole contest and giveaway business so a mixup on their part is oky-doke. It's free afterall. Hopefully they are aware of this and won't make the same mistake again :)

I'll be installing the power supply tommorow morning into my case. I'll report back. Wish me good luck!

News / Re: [Frontpage News]Samsung K5 4GB MP3 Player w/Built-In Speakers

Thanks for the props, but Fujitsu actually reviewed that unit.  I got to see it for about 1hr.  That's perfect though.  I get the praise, Fujitsu does the work!  ;D

Did you grab the 4GB unit or the 2GB version?  I like the control interface of the K series for sure.
Oops! I got mixed up. Good review Fujitsu :)
I have the 2GB version actually. The interface is very pretty, but I only wish there was a button that will take you directly to the playlist or the song-being-played menu.

I'm assuming its because the K5 uses the headphones as some sort of antenna, the radio feature works without the headphones plugged in but it just doesn't get any reception on any stations, until you plug the headphones in, luckily if the speaker is open and the headphones are plugged in it will still play the music over the speaker, so you can use the radio and listen to it over the speaker, just also have to have the headphones plugged in also

Overall though I was very impressed with the K5 though, the OLED display is very nice, I really wish I didn't have to send this one back to Samsung
It's still strange nevertheless. I haven't heard of an antenna in headphones before, but I must say that the headphones of the K5 are unique looking.

They didn't let you keep it? :(

I bought myself the YP-K3, which is like the K5 but without the speakers and less features. I am very impressed by the quality of the unit. Good review, Zeus, and I hope Samsung will give you a response regarding the use of the headphones without the radio.  :)

Yay! I just received the power supply today! My sister took the digital camera for her trip to Toronto, so I won't be able to take some pictures for quite some time. But no fear, I will describe how the prize is for the moment and update with pics whenever I get the digital camera back !   >:D

So, basically, it came in a sort of cardboard of 10"x8"x8" dimensions. Some of the corners of the package are fairly beaten up thanks to Canada Post.  :P Shipping was through "Expedited Parcel" and it took 7 days to go from Alberta to Quebec.

Now onto the contents. Inside there was these two cardboard hollow blocks that protected the power supply. Pulling out the package of the power supply revealed a very nice green graphics (like here) with pics of a black power supply everywhere. The package was still in its orginal plastic wrap! Goodie!

The power supply was identified as the X-Pro 600W! :o I thought the prize was actually a X3 600W. Ultra must have sent the wrong one to Zeus or he got mixed up during shipping.  :police: The modular version of the X3 would have been very helpful for a tight mATX case like mine, but this is better than nothing. A bit dissapointed but no biggie really. O0

The power supply itself, once out of the package, the plastic and the styrophoam, looks remarkably beautiful with its shiny coating. It is much better than conventionnal, OEM-style power supplies. Cables are nicely meshed and sleeved. The power supply came with a neat manual, a power cable and some screws.

I did the trick of turning on the power supply without a PC and the unit is very quiet. Very nice product! Thanks for the prize Zeus and BCCHardware and Ultra. Hopefully I will have some time soon to install it into my case.  :smitten:

Operating Systems & Software / Re: Non-Latin Alphabets
« on: August 07, 2007, 09:18:12 AM »
* Do non-Latin alphabets (for instance Greek) need more storage?
It should if it's a seperate font file from the rest of Window's standard fonts (sort of like Asian fonts)

* Is it possible when you type Greek and save it on a forum it can be cut off, and if so why? (...regards posting messages and custom user titles, and so on.)
Like VE6JHC said, it depends if the server or forum supports such a font.

* Is it possible that a computer is somehow faulty if Greek characters/texts get cut off?
No idea  :(

* Does it possibly have to do with the browser in use?
Possibly, if the browser supports such fonts or not, but usually they should if you have the correct fonts installed in Windows.

I remember having this problem once. I really couldn't remember where I found the fix, but finally here it is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Good luck!

I found that as well but it didn't help.
Sorry to hear that  :(

General Hardware / Re: [Frontpage News]E4300 Overclocking
« on: August 07, 2007, 09:14:55 AM »
I read that the E2160 processor could pull off a 3.4 Ghz overclock with no hassle too. I don't know if the processor's lifetime is diminished or not; too early to say.

I have mine running stable at 3.45Ghz with a 1.45 core voltage. Some people say that OC's needing 1.55 or higher will definitely shorten their lifespan. I decided that keeping it under 1.5 was my comfort zone. I'm very happy with it and I am optimistic about it's lifespan  O0
Wow... that's really good. I have yet to read a user that cannot reach 3.4 Ghz with the E2160.
