ATI fixes openGL?
« on: October 24, 2005, 10:09:12 AM »
A long standing gripe I've had with ATI's otherwise excellent performance has been a shoddy showing in OpenGL titles.  However it seems as though this complaint may be rendered Null and Void by some fancy stuff ATI has been doing.  Apparently they have been able to optimize the memory controller on the new X1000 series to take far better advantage of OpenGL.  The performance gains are pretty amazing.  Of course it bites that the X800 or 850 series is not elligible for this driver based booster juice, but its still quite nice to see this long standing bug get put to rest.  Proof you say?  Don't believe ATI's propoganda machine?  Then go read and put your mind at rest.

Well I am just glad ATI fixed OpenGL's mistakes. OpenGL should have fixed their own problem. If they would have fixed the problem earlier, alot of people would have been able to play Quake 2 on their Rage II's.  ::)
