Zalman`s STG1 Thermal Grease
Quote
Most computer enthusiasts, professionals and custom system builders don't use the gunk that comes with a stock heatsink.  For those people, the choice over the past few years has generally been Arctic Silver products.  These are high performing thermal compounds that show improvement over generic paste for the most part.  Today we have a look at some thermal grease from Zalman and see if they can give Arctic Silver's Ceramique a run for the money.

We've rounded off our box of Zalman goodies with a look at their first shot at a thermal grease.  Their first entry is labeled the ZM-STG1, and if you read our review, you'll find out just how good this Thermal paste is.

Please feel free to leave your thoughts, comments and feedback right here.  Thanks!   ;)

I agree, I did my own testing & came up with the same performance.

Components:
CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4GHZ no overclock.
H/S: Zalman 9700 CNPS Heatsink.
M/B: EVGA 780i SLI
Case: Antec 900
Software: CoreTemp
-------------------------------------

The Heatsink & Q6600 were cleaned w Arctic Silver Cleaner & Purifier each time before installing

Zalman STG1 -
From day 1 to day 30 my temps were very steady @ 33c-idle, 37c-load

Arctic Silver Ceramique -
Day 1 boot 1: I was impressed 31c-idle, for the first 30 minutes. then 33c-idle, 37c-load
Day 1 boot 2: PC was OFF for 2 hrs, 33c-idle, 43c-load
Day 1 boot 3: PC was OFF for 2 hrs, 35c-idle, 47c-load
Will do break in for 2 more days, & <-- edit here --> with results..

If the creamique's performance does not improve I will revert to Zalman's STG1

The part the angers me is, The STG1 came FREE with my 9700 CNPS, I paid $5 Plus $5 shipping for creamique, $10.00 wasted if performance does not improve.

The thinner the better and some Arctic Silver (and other products) are thick and seem to dry and bulk up when they cure.  I love the STG1.  It's proven to be one of the best time and time again in my personal use.

Well I said I would give creamique A chance.

It has been about 19 hrs. so far of heating the CPU & turning off for 2-3 hours at a time.

I also rotated the Zalman 9700 back & fourth a few times to try and thin the product, This may cause performace lack due to the cure process.

I have acheived 28c-32c idle temps at this point. Also keep in mind that room temps will play major part in CPU temps. (I think its colder in here now).

So it would seem that both the STG1, & Creamique perform well.

However I spent only minutes installing STG1,
& 2 days working with Creamique.

My overall rating,
STG1, Performs Well, & installs Very Very Easy.
Creamique, Performs Well, Is a bit complicated to install, & has a 25hr cure process.

Will post if performance changes.
