Looks good to me, I read through it quickly last night, but probably am going to have to read it again.

but I have a question, are there any other drives out there right now with all those options, but not the plextor name?? Just wondering cause I'm assuming someone else would sell them for much cheaper.

btw what was this drive you reviewed worth if someone was to go out and buy one in canada?? You might have mentioned, but I'm not sure

That drive looks really tight for sure.  I'm especially impressed with the copying of protected cds.  I never expected the drive to do it.  Plus it seems quite fast.  With my Pioneer DVD-R it takes me right around 30 minutes to burn at 2x and about 20 minutes at 4x.  I usually burn at 2x though because the media is soooo much cheaper.  I usually pay about $2 a disc for memorex ones compared to upwards around $7-10 for 4x.  Unless I'm just looking in the wrong spot.  But indeed it sounds like a nice drive.  BTW do the DVD+R play good in Home Theatre DVD players.  Have you noticed any incompatability with any drives and the +R media?

Fujitsu:

I'm sure there are other drives available that claim to perform with all the features as this drive.  It seems as though it's hit and miss, especially with the copying of protect cd's.  As far as the price goes, you can snag one of these from NCIX today for 353.69 CAD.  Not a bad buy for such a fast drive.

Lobbdogg:

I agree that 4x media are a little expensive.  I was able to pick up a 5 pack of 4x Memorex @ FutureShop in Calgary for $22. . . just under $4.50 a disk, but of course I had to have some for the review.

Yes, this drive is very fast.  I personally love it and do believe that it's a keeper.  The DVD+R seem to play fine in Set Top Box DVD Players - From Hitachi, Zenith, Pioneer, etc. all worked good.  However, both IBM and ECS laptops (QSI DVD combo drives) choke a bit when playing these disks.  Desktop DVD-ROMs - not a problem.
