I'm sure there are other drives available that claim to perform with all the features as this drive. It seems as though it's hit and miss, especially with the copying of protect cd's. As far as the price goes, you can snag one of these from
NCIX today for 353.69 CAD. Not a bad buy for such a fast drive.

I agree that 4x media are a little expensive. I was able to pick up a 5 pack of 4x Memorex @ FutureShop in Calgary for $22. . . just under $4.50 a disk, but of course I had to have some for the review.
Yes, this drive is very fast. I personally love it and do believe that it's a keeper. The DVD+R seem to play fine in Set Top Box DVD Players - From Hitachi, Zenith, Pioneer, etc. all worked good. However, both IBM and ECS laptops (QSI DVD combo drives) choke a bit when playing these disks. Desktop DVD-ROMs - not a problem.
