[Frontpage News]Ratpadz XT Bulletproof?
« on: January 01, 2007, 09:29:47 AM »
I've wanted to take a shotgun to some hardware in the past, I just never thought I should.  This gives me some good ideas. . .  ;D

TechFEAR has had a little fun and taken a 12-gague shotgun to their Ratpadz XT over the holidays to blast the crap out of it.  The Ratpadz XT is basically a remake of the original Ratpadz which was far better than the second generation Ratpadz GS.  Take a look and see how well the pad survived the blast and if it would make nice light body armor for when you go bird hunting with some d. . .

Hmm, it might be bulletproof, but the coating wore off on mine in 2 months, at least now I can wear it as a flak jacket instead

Not sure if anyone else was a Ratpadz XT Buyer, but I know I'd never buy another, my original Ratpadz is still good though, and so is my everglide, hopefully they fixed the crappy coating the XT by now, cause needless when they say its the last mouse pad you'll ever need to buy, I'd think it should last more than a couple months, however I guess its true, I'll probably never buy another ratpadz, lol

The Ratpadz XT is actually the same as the original Ratpadz.  The Ratpadz GS was a piece of crap.  Mine wore out very quickly as well.  I've not got an Everglide and a fUnc and I actually like the fUnc the best.

whoops, I meant to say I have/had the GS, and yes, it was crap

The XT might be better if its like the original, my original is still going strong

Biggest beef with Ratpadz compared to Everglide is its quite a bit thicker, which is good for sturdyness, but I personally prefer my everglide now since its nice and thing, yet still nice and rigid

Now I know the true meaning of the give-away contest that I won...It was for this Ratpadz GS. Thanks anyway!!! It also has about 2 months also on it.. So I took it outside heated it up and warped it, broke it good with a 12 gauge after..maybe should buy another type still using the foam cloth type now...it hasn't wore out yet (5+ years)

If you want a very nice pad that has a couple of surface textures for your mousing pleasure, I recommend the fUnc Archetype 1030.  It has both smooth and normal surface textures and is very thin.  (less than 3mm I think).

the everglide ricochet is the same, sorta nice to have both sides available, yet still very thin
