In January, I purchased a new Velocity for myself, and 2 Emachines T5212, 1 for my Girlfriend, and another for my Father......... same model, same day, same store. Both seem to have the same issues with their keyboards. Upon bootup, "somewhere" "sometime" around BIOS loading, the keyboard lights come on, then, the windows XP splash screen, then to the desktop, the keyboard lights go out again, and is dead beyond that. A reboot is the only way i figured out how to fix so far, but isnt 100% foolproof on the first try, and may need 2-3 reboots to work.
Origionally, I swapped with another brand keyboard & new drivers, but this didnt solve anything. I contacted Tech Support (gateway tech, as they now pwn emac) and told her this was happening on 2 same-model pc's? She proceeded to talk me through how to re-install drivers (using some special emachine supplied program), as well as making 3 back-up disks.....for drivers i guess?? or something. I dunno, cause i thought thats what the restore disk was for

......but, it didnt fix anything ...........both PC's still have a dead keyboard %50-%75 of the time upon initial bootup.
