BIOS Update
« on: September 16, 2007, 12:52:15 AM »
For my motherboard, there are these bios updates available. Please take a look. http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2357

My questions are:
1. Will the F5 update include all the other ones before it? Will i have the CPU-ID update from F2, if i go directly to F5?

The F5 should include everything in the previous updates

BIOS updates are always incremental.  The only code changed to fix bugs is the code that causes the bug, the rest remains unchanged.  The same goes for new features/enhancements, code is added to enable the feature/enhancement, the rest of the code remains unchanged.  That's not to say the the code changed or added doesn't create a new problem.

That was the long answer, the short answer is yes all changes up to F4 will be included in F5.

Nope, the bios update will not force you to reinstall Windows XP.  O0

XP might detect some changes to the system which would display as new hardware when rebooted. That's not unusual, though, and is mostly due to some resets that may occur in hardware addressing, especially if your ECSD is altered.
