I bought my wife an iPod nano for mothers day earlier this year, and recently an iTunes update hosed the iPod. After she did some searching, it seems that many users had their iPods crater with that update (not sure which one). I iPod crashed and was stuck "on" with the backlight shining showing a "Do Not Disconnect" message. After the battery died, we charged the nano and it did the same thing. After draining the battery again, we recovered the iPod. Whoever said Apple products didn't crash, and were reliably was full of horse...stuff.
This is the second time that Xena's iPod has acted flaky and it's not that old. Stupid Apple... I'm honestly glad that the 1G iPhone isn't available in Canada. All we need is another crappy phone up here. Maybe by the time it hits 2G it will be a bit more friendly and Steve will get out of bed with the execs at AT&T.
