Still no go.... I have downloaded the newest vid driver which is 163.75 for my bfg 6800 gt oc, did the 1.01 patch for ut3 crashes after the intel core 2 movie.... So I have opened up unreal editor for ut3 and did a play map on it..... it works it runs of course no bots.... But I get to play in the map.... so do you think that the .exe that is provided with ut3 is screwed?
or when it switches over from a resolution of say 1024x768 to lets say 800x600 that this is the flaw??? Has the ppl that made the game tested for this??? seems to be a lot of ppl that is having trouble with the same type of problem... At least with the demo I could see the front end and pick a map and change keyboard binds.. but as soon as I get into the map it crashed.. With the full version that I have now I cant even get to that stage..... I don't have anything overclocked... here is the partial specs... amd 3500+ 1 gig of ram windoze xp pro service pack 2 all updates. its own special partition for just ut3. All I have done is un-installed the demo and installed the full version then the updates as required.... I do have to say that it does look prettier.... and the rocket launcher when you want a spiral it tells you on the screen.... the trans locater seems to be nice... hope it has the camera as you fling it out like the ut2004 version...... anyway not amused... hope I dont have to upgrade to sli to run just this game......

I'm grasping at straws here, but try disabling your sound card in windows.

Well BoneRak is the man!!! the sound card must have some glitch drivers.... as I did this and did get to the cd key screen... but the next problem is this ..... I seem to have a version that forgot to include the cd key... So I'm not amused, but will have to get an exchange...At least the problem is getting smaller!! Thanks BoneRak!

The key is on the manual CD, not the DVD.

hey, been playing ut3, and I found out that I don't have to have my dvd in the drive to play the game, does anyone else have this? or is it just some glitch in my system?

Nope. UT3's copy protection lies solely in the CD key. No disk is required to play at all. No screwed up SecureROM or anything like that either. Kudos to Epic and Midway for that!

wow, that is really nice, and I can still play lan games with the same key so that's nice, i guess it's just the online stuff that has to be a different key

I have looked every place to find the key it is not in the package... on any cd sleeves what so ever.... I'm not happy....Now to make a trip back to where I got it!!! I see that this is a problem with some ppl on the forums that I have looked at... So little steps I guess on this one lol!! Hope to be on tonight (server). The only things that was in the package was the cd manual, dvd install disk and a reg. card...

So the store exchanged no problem... I can now at least play a little till it crashes, I have put the 1.01 beta update for ut3 after.... still crashes... but varies the time that it does.... the sound card creative audigy 2 ZS was disabled and the game at least works... I have installed a fresh driver for this card and still crashes. So the sound card is disabled now...Any ideas?? Could my BFG 6800 gt oc be a problem ?? Its still agp. I do have the 163.75 drivers now for it. Im not amused still but the game looks fun...

Glad to hear your able to taste the game now. I don't know what to point a finger at on the computer now. I am still running an AGP card and I have to say for the last year my Unreal Tournament 2004 has been crashing more than the new Unreal Tournament 3 so far.

I will do. So I have a chance to play today.... Not really for the idea of playing without sound.... I do have on board sound and will try that and see...... I really like the audigy 2 card... the box says great sound with a X-fi sound card.... is there really any difference?? and could this be a problem for crashing?? I do have the latest driver for the audigy 2 card.. but looking at the date looks to be 8/11/2006. I have not seen any latest drivers then this for this card.. So far this is the hardest game to install that I have.....

If you can snag a cheap X-Fi - maybe, but unless you've got a $200 set of headphones or a $500 pair of speakers, sound quality isn't that much better than onooard - CPU usage is much better though.
