catalyst 3.8 is NOT the bomb.
« on: October 09, 2003, 02:51:48 PM »
Not only is Zeus dropping  900 points in Aquamark. I have dropped in my Unreal Tournament 2003 from 130 fps in Antalus to (don't blink your reading this right) 19 fps. Just to make sure it wasn't chance, I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled the 3.7 catalyst's. My frames per second were back up to 130. Uninstalled drivers, reinstalled 3.8's and back down to 19 fps. I'm a little choked over this and I wonder what other crippling blows to OpenGL are going to come.

Stay away from the ATI 3.8 Catalysts.

You should really upgrade your ATI Rage 128 Card. ;D

I thought "what the hay, I'll try them on my gaming install (Windows XP Pro) and see what they do."

On this install, my scores dropped 1800 in Aquamark, and 320 in 3DMark03.  My UT scores were slightly better but I'm using DX not OpenGL.  It seems as though these really perform with AA, and AF on.  Default settings seem to butcher these drivers.

Yes, I seen that 20fps for myself; but the picture is different for me. UT 2k3 really rocks for me. Seen 200+ fps showing up. True I got no-cap on, and I'm running 430/350 on my 9800 pro. There's no lag either. Beautiful!
