Nettalk Duo - VOIP Home Phone

We have just posted our review of the NetTalk Duo.  This is a little VOIP device that can operate through a computer or as a stand-alone box - giving you unlimited calling.  The call quality is great and although it's not the cheapest, it is certainly one of the best $70 VOIP boxes around.  Take a look at our review for all the details.

I would have to say that the NetTalk Duo is the absolute best VOIP device on the market today. With all of its features, great sound quality, ease of setup setup and how inexpensive the Duo is, how could you not want to go out and pick one up and give your phone company a piece of your mind. . .

Please post your thoughts, comments and questions right here.

The NetTalk rocks! It blows away the Magicjack because of the way you can hook it up to your router.
The Magicjack after its setup and paid for is still a huge advertisment in the middle of your screen.
Also when you get calls with the Magicjack it interrupts whatever you are doing with a popup.
Ask Zeus how mad I get when that happens while gaming :tickedoff:

Solid product. 8)

That is great to hear HooRaH.  You mind running a speedtest over at speedtest.net and posting your results so we can see how fast your connection is in order to get such good call quality?  Thanks bro!

Dang.

My speed to Calgary over my cell phone trumps yours, but I hate you for your speed to New York.  I wish there was a way to limit bandwidth to the NetTalk and see how good it works with a specified amount of bandwidth...  That's almost worth looking into...  Thanks!

Prior to owning the Net Talk Duo device and service I was Magic Jack customer for 3  years.  What enticed me to switch to Net Talk Duo was the fact that their device was able to plug directly into a router and free up a computer.  After getting my Net Talk Duo device configured and using the service, I noticed that the call quality was slightly better than the Magic Jack service and figured that I had made the right move, then my device stopped working!  I followed all of the troubleshooting tips from the website but was still unable to resolve my issues.  I then noticed that I was not getting any blinking lights from the network cable port on the Net Talk Duo device.  I then went to the net talk website and opened a high priority support ticket.  Two days later someone from support contacted me and wanted me to go through the troubleshooting tips on their site.  I explained that I have already done all of this and will need the unit replaced.  He said he would check on what can be done.  A week goes by and no word, so I check the status of the case and call the tech number listed on their site.  I get a live person from their “Tech” department and the gentlemen said that he is not in customer service and can’t replace my unit and gave me the direct email to the customer service side.  I then write up an email including my support ticket info and explaining everything hoping this would expedite my case.  Another few days go by and I get an email asking how long I have had the service.  I reply with how long I have had the service, and then get a reply stating that since I have had the device longer than 30 days I cannot get a refund.  This goes back and forth for about 3 weeks and I am told that I will need to buy a new device and they can transfer my number over.  Initially I was going to go with that option but from the experience I had with their customer service and cheaply made device, decided not to buy another unit in hopes that it will last beyond a year.  Net talk claims to have 7 day customer service but this is a farce.  I am going to cut my losses and try another VOIP service.  I do not recommend the Net Talk DUO, Net Talk DUO II or Net Talk in itself!

Wow.  Thanks for the heads-up TechDepot.  Noted.  Sorry you had trouble with them.
