Would You Use eBooks That Are Ad-Supported?

Google is working at making eBooks free if they contain ads.  I'm sure they have enough power to wield the future of eBooks and was wondering if you'd go for free or continue to pay to get books without crappy ads.  Remember, this is just for eBooks.

I don't even want to think about what they'd advertise in Harlequin Romance books.

For me, it would definitely depend on what kind of ads are being presented but in general I'd be willing to save a few bucks by watching ads.

Initially I would say no, but it depends how it's implemented.  For example if you had to watch an ad before you started reading anything and weren't bothered until the next time you opened the book then it might be ok.

Chances are the ads would be strategically placed as to interrupt and destroy the climax of the story to force you through the ad because you want to see what's next.  It's all about anticipation.  For that reason, I'd say no.

I'm assuming in order for Google to get people to advertise in their books they'd have to be somewhat annoying so that you actually pay attention to them and advertisers get their moneys worth.

If the ads make the book completely free I would probably go for it personally, but I'd assume for bigger titles you'd probably just get a discount rather then the whole book for free.
