New Computer.

I am having a computer sent to Florida so I can build her new one (sister), some things will be just moved over (LOL not much) but heres link if any of you would want to give a thought or two.

I know Barton is little over kill for a non gamer but its so cheap only about $30 more the a 1800 XP.  I would love 512 but was really pushing pass the what she willing to spend.  The case is same one I have which I love 120mm Fans Rock quiet and cool.  The processor fan is new its looks to be quieter then my Volcano 7+ and I would like to check it out anyways.  And for the MB sticking with NForce, I have Epox now but brand is still kinda up in the air.

I would cut corners with something else and get 512 ram, maybe buy a cheaper motherboard or something, thats just my opinion, as I think XP with 256 is sorta crappy

I agree with Fujitsu, I never like to run less than 512 on anything running XP.  I noticed you are going with Corsair ram, any particular reason?  You said she isn't a hardcore gamer, and with that I assume no overclocking.  I would maybe find some OCZ or something, it may come in a bit cheaper and then possibly you can fit 512 mb worth in the computer.  Just a thought.

The MB I want to stay as good as possible but I may got with some cheaper ram only choose that cause I have it.  Never had OCZ is it good are there other ones that are good just not as much as corsair.  

KINGSTON HyperX Series 184-pin 512MB DDR333 (PC2700) 64X64 DDR RAM modules, Model# KHX2700/512 $99 Anyone like kingston.

Kingston is good, I've never personally had it, but any experiences I have had with it have been good

I am running OCZ and I believe Zeus is still running some 3200 as well from OCZ, I've never had any problems with it what so ever.  I've had corsair as well, and I didn't notice any kind of big difference with the two.  Both are good.

I went with the KINGSTON HyperX Since its 512 and 2-2-2-5 was about $30 less the OCZ and kingston had ton of good reviews on newegg.  But thanks for all the input it did help with final decision.  It been ordered and should arrive in Florida 1 day before me.

Kingston RAM is good stuff.  It doesn't always have the overclocking room as other RAM, but it hits what its rated at.  GEIL sometimes can't even pull of it's rated speed at times.

Thanks, Glad it at least a good choice, overclocking wont come into play but least I know if I ever need new ram I can go couple different brands and be ok.

I have Kingmax PC2700 in one of my rigs and it's OC'd to PC3200 speeds without a volt increase................or get some good old US made Mushkin.......... ;)

I checked your wishlist out. It looks like a pretty nice system. I like the cooper fan upgrade from the retail box included one. It should keep your system running much cooler. I need to do a simular upgrade to my system becasue I am only running a 2100+ and the RAID port on my motherboard likes to eat hard drives - even if I have it set as non-RAID ultra-100 mode. I just lost the entire contents on my 120gig HD to it (fortunatly I haven't over-written the drive so it may be recoverable, anyone know of good software for undelte on NTFS format?)

The price point I like on processors right now is the 2700+ Mainly because it runs at the same speed as the 3000+ or only 30Mhz slower than the 3200+, the only difference is it only has 256K cache - which is twice what I have now, so it shouldn't be half bad.

I checked your wishlist out and it looks better then what I got. Barton 2500 might be my next upgrade too. you could get cheaper ram and still have 512MB 333MHz memory.
