I read the earlier thread on the Athlon 64 FX, but wanted to start a new one cuz that one was a bit long, things get washed out.
Anyways, I want to share a sweet review with everyone, becasue it is cool to see what the next generation of processors will be, before they come out.
So, we all know that the Athlon 64 FX kicks some Intel butt, despite the 1Ghz clock difference between AMD's flagship proccessor and Intel's. Well, what would it be like if the Gap were narrowed? That's what I want to know. At Tom's Hardware Guide they did just that.
Using a compressor cooling system that chills the chip to an arctic -50º C, They were able to overclock the mighty 64 FX to 2.8 Ghz. That narrows the gap to only 400Mhz. Amazingly, the Athlon 64 FX was able to beat it's rival by a huge 27% on average.
I call that kicking some Intel butt and smearing it around the court.
