Codec pack for Windows Media Player

Anyone know of a good codec pack for Windows Media Player 12, that isn't riddled with spyware and/or viruses? Preferably, to be able to play .mp4 videos consistently.

Yes, I do know about VLC player, but this is for a work project that requires that we use Windows Media Player for playback.

It's been so long since I've touched codec's Lobdogg. I'll look into it for sure.
