ATi X800 Pro Launch
« on: April 20, 2004, 05:15:10 AM »
(Taken From BCC News)

It seems as though ATi has clinched a release date for their "NV40 Killer". That's my quote, not theirs. They will launch the ATi X800 Pro on May 4, 2004 with the higher-end X800 XT to follow a couple of weeks later. It'll be an interesting year for sure. I'm looking forward to some fresh graphics wars. The 9800XT v.s. 5950 Ultra was getting a little old. Read more here.

I'm pretty excited about the release of the PRO and the XT later.  I'd bet the PRO will take the 6800Ultra. . .the X800XT will just embarrase it. . .

I kind of think so too.......seems to be alot of people out there that don't think so because of the shader 3.0 stuff..........but there isn't really anything out there that uses PS 3.0 anyway......

[H]ard OCP had this posted up yesterday about the same thing....:)

"The canaries are singing that 12 pipelines, 475MHz/950MHz card (ATI's X800Pro) with 96 bit precision and PS 2.0 shader only will end up faster then 16 pipelines, 400MHz /1100MHz cards (NVIDIA's GeForce 6800 Ultra) with 128 bit precision and PS 3.0 shader model."

I can't wait for the new lineup of ATI cards start rolling out.  It'll be interesting to see who wins between Nvidia and ATI.
