I got 2 512 meg sticks of crucial 3200 ballistix ram.
I was only 3 mhz less, 217 fsb rather than 220, than the old fast OCZ ram, at 2-2-2 settings. But presumably they fair better at DDR 466 or DDr 500 than any of them, at 2.5-2-2-5 I hear. See Anandtech. For my next motherboard I guess.
The bonus, only $366 Canadian. (I was saving for a graphics card. This will knock that back a bit, but I needed it.)
Addendum: My motherboard is a chaintech znf3 amd 64 with the old chipsets that don't overclock well. But with 2.5-2-2-8 settings I got the fsb up to 225 with stability. This is without changing any voltages. Keeeping it in spec a s Nicao would say. (8 rather than 5? . . . amd 64 runs faster here.)
I was going to buy a graphics card, but it looks like via is going to do dual pci express for amd motherboards, and right away! So, I should wait it out.
