Gaming Rig Stolen..
« on: December 05, 2004, 01:22:36 AM »
Not the best Sunday morning surprise. It hasn't even been a full year since my first break and enter at my computer shop. This time it was a little more personal. They took my gaming rig!
System Specs: AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB Corsair RAM, SATA Hard drive, Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB. I don't think I will be able to make any of the Desert Combat matches for the remainder of the year.
Well at least I have my health (cough) (cough).

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that man.  I don't know what is wrong with people and them wanting to steal other's property.  I hope that it won't be too long before you can do some gaming again.  Again sorry to hear that.

That's super lame man.  Twice within a year really sucks.  Hope you can get some insurance money to cover it, and get back up and running soon.

crappy thing is if someone stole my rig its not the hardware that would be the toughest to replace, its all the crap you have on it and all the time you spent getting it running the way you want

totally sucks, hopefully the insurance company ponys up enough cash to get you a little upgrade too

Man that really really sucks, hope they catch the guys soon and the comp is still in one piece when recovered.

Shotgun idea sounds awsome, just make sure its set to bad guys only, and point it away from your machine.

oh and whats the machine look like so we can keep a lookout for people sellin it on the street corner? ( case etc)

They never caught the people last time. I don't think they will catch them this time. The case was just a standard beige colour with a windows. I just rebuilt it again after the lanparty as it was crashing before. I get all the bugs out of the system and then it gets stollen. 16X DVD drive and a really clean neat install. The only distiguishing marks on it was the Fragapalooza Security Sticker on the bottom of it..
Insurance money we probably cover less than half of the cost, after deductible.

That really sucks man, hope they do catch them this time.

I'll keep my eye out for the comp, but somehow I doubt it.

Well it looks like the insurance company has me by the curlies. Since I have been broaken into twice in a year, my insurance rates will go through the roof if I make a claim. So right now I just have to swallow the $1500 in losses and hope if there is a next time, that they take all my computers. I don't know who the bigger crooks are, the actual crooks or the insurance company..
Time to move on and turn my AMD 2200+ server into my gaming rig. Heck I'll have the itch soon. By Feburary I'll have a new computer.  :)

Yah I don't have how insurance companies can pull that crap

I know I used to pay 2400 bucks a year for insurance on my 3500 dollar car, its better now, but it sorta makes you wonder
