XP-M 2500+ or XP-M 2600+
« on: December 21, 2004, 01:59:15 PM »
Ok guys, I need some advice. I recently upgraded everything in my rig except the CPU (ran outta cash), which is a XP 2000+. I have OC'd it from 1.67GHz to 1.8GHz. I have been quite happy with this, however I have been told by a friend that my CPU is the major bottleneck of my system at the moment.

I have been watching prices for CPU's at www.ncix.com and have noticed that they are finally carrying the XP-M 2600+ in addition to their existing XP-M 2500+. Now, has anyone heard anything good about the 2600+? I know the 2500+ is tried and true for overclocking. I'm wondering if spending the extra $12.00 is worth it. Will I get a better OC out of a chip that is already clocked higher stock? I know that each chip is different, same chips can definately end up OC'ing differently.

Tell me what you've heard or have used. Oh yeah, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

Snag the 2500+.  It's cheaper and will OC just as high as the 2600+
