Western Digital Acquires Toshiba Memory
« on: September 12, 2017, 08:14:31 PM »
Western Digital has been doing quite well - from a brand standpoint anyhow - and they are increasing their reach with their latest acquisition - Toshiba Memory. This should allow Western Digital to make their solid state products more effectively, efficiently and get products to market faster. Margins on their NAND products should be much better for the company.

A breaking report out of Japan this evening states that Western Digital has won the bidding process to take over a portion of Toshiba Memory. The two companies already work together in a joint venture to produce NAND flash memory, an arrangement that started with Toshiba and SanDisk. Western Digital acquired SanDisk in 2016 and inherited the memory manufacturing partnership.Source: TomsHardware
