Android App Pick - WiFi File Explorer PRO
Application: WiFi File Explorer Pro
App pick of the week is here once again and this week we have a very useful utility app. Every day you are moving data to and from your phone somehow. It may be scanning, faxing, printing or taking photos. This app doesn't sound like a dropped fax machine (Skrillex), rather I’m talking about uploading and downloading data to your phone. This app is better than your USB cable and more convenient than taking the back off your phone and pulling your Micro-SD card. These still have a purpose (and make iPhone users jealous), but we are exploring the world of wireless! WiFi File Explorer Pro is a great paid app that uses WiFi to upload and download files. Your WiFi on your phone must be turned on to work.
WiFi File Explorer Pro works great for transferring files back and forth between your computer and Android device. As long as you have a WiFi connection you're able to copy files over. Uploading and downloading is so fast even with multiple files selected! Simply connect to a network and once your phone gets an IP address, you can hit the menu key on your phone and go exploring. With the IP address that you see in the application, you can open a browser window on any PC connected to the same network and pull up a web page that lists the files and directories on your phone. You then can select a file or multiple files, hit the download button and your files will automagically download to the computer wirelessly without a cable or pulling your SD card.
The process is similar when it comes to uploading files from your computer to your phone. Hit the "Select Files" link on the right side of the webpage and find the file that you want to put on your phone and then click the upload button. How secure is it? It seems pretty secure and your device won't show up under your networks in your network browser, but best to put a password on it so no one can be stupid with it if they “accidentally” see.
