Android App Pick - Rdio
Application: Rdio
It’s the middle of the month and there are only two more weeks to go for a full year of Android App Pick! This week you'll need to get your headphones on and your tunes playing. Have we got a tune for you! If your whistling is a little weak or if you need some tunes while you work, you have got to try out Rdio. This is an interesting app that is similar to Zune. Unlike a Zune account that allows you to have multiple devices playing at once, Rdio only allows one device per account to stream at a single time. You get unlimited music for only $10/month after the 6 day free trial and it's ad-free too! If you want to save a few bucks and have desktop-streaming only, you can pay only $4.99 a month for that. Rdio is built with streaming in mind, but it does sync music to your device if you want to use "offline" mode.
Most people that grew up around some sort of music device have developed a favourite genres of music they like. Rdio is an interesting app to stream music using your Wi-Fi or 3G connection to stream music off the internet onto your mobile device or tablet. You’re able to search for songs or albums from your favourite artists and either add to your collection or sync them straight to your phone. When adding to your collection they don’t get synced to your phone so if you want to listen offline they won’t be available. On the plus side, they won't be taking up space either. You can quickly access your collection and stream anything on either your desktop or your mobile device.
The desktop option comes in either a web page or an application. Either way, you can listen to your music on your rig, search for tunes, make or add them to a playlist as well. You can do this on your device as well. Syncing and organization is all done wirelessly. You can add the whole album or just the few songs you like. One neat thing I find nice is that Rdio lets you know which songs are "explicit" so you can quickly make the choice to not download trashy songs.
Turn on the Rdio and tap to the beat today!
