Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Cooler Master CM Spawn Mouse Final Thoughts:

When I first hooked up the CM Spawn I was a little bit skeptical of it due to the small size of this mouse. The CM Spawn is a much smaller and lighter mouse that I traditionally use and for the first 15 minutes of use I was wondering if I would be able to get used to it. 15 minutes later after I had stopped thinking about the mouse and what I liked and didn’t like (and basically over-analyzing it) and when I stopped playing a game I realized that I had already pretty much gotten used to the CM Spawn already and it actually felt really nice during gameplay.

In my testing I tried a few different genres of games, FPS, Strategy, clicking madly web-based games, and just everyday tasks. While the CM Spawn is touted more as a “Gaming Mouse” I found that it did very well playing games and I grew to like it very quickly, but in everyday tasks (which unfortunately is what a good majority of my day consists of) the CM Spawn also performed like a champ.

The CM Storm lineup of products (which the Spawn is part of) is more aimed at gamers and features software that is customizable for gamers. One nice feature is the built in 32 KB of memory (Sentinel-X 32 KB) which allows the custom settings that you set to be stored on the mouse itself and if you accidentally unplug it or move it to another system all of your settings are saved and do not need to be setup again. Other options like adjustable DPI on the fly is a nice feature that most gamers use and love on a regular basis.

The value of the Spawn mouse is also very good when compared to other "Gaming" mice. At time of publishing the MSRP of the Spawn was $49.99 USD which is very competitive for a mouse with as many features as the Spawn has.

As far as drawbacks go I really don't have any major complaints with the CM Spawn mouse. The "claw-shape" design might not be for everyone but it is a nice alternative to some of the larger and bulkier gaming mice available and I think there will be quite a few people who will appreciate the size and shape of this mouse.

At the end of the day the CM Spawn is a great option when it comes to gaming mice. While the CM Spawn is more aimed at the gaming community it's also a great "all-around" mouse and if you are looking for a smaller "claw-style" mouse this might just be the mouse for you. The high quality construction of this mouse, the ability to easily customize this mouse, and great value that the Spawn gaming mouse offers has earned this mouse our "Editor's Choice - Gold" award.
