Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Final Thoughts:

So here we are at the end of the ROCCAT Savu review.

At first glance the Savu gaming mouse might look a bit more "basic" than some other fancy gaming mice, but don't let it's looks deceive you, this mouse is a performer and has features coming out of its ears.

As far as features go, ROCCAT has been able to cram a ton of neat and useful little features into a simple-looking mouse. Thanks to features like Easy-Shift you can easily assign an alternate function to each button that can be easily activated with the click of a button. All of the customization features should also be noted, chances are good even the pickiest gamer should be able to make this mouse perform just the way they like it (although you are limited to set DPI settings of 400, 800, 1600 or 4000 only).

Performance-wise I must say I was very happy with overall. The feel and comfort of this mouse is top notch and even though it's a bit different than mice I normally use I had no problems getting used to it very quickly and it didn't take long before I was 100% comfortable with it.

Normally mouse software, or really any gaming peripheral software, doesn't impress me all that much. Most software is pretty basic and once you setup the device the first time you very rarely ever touch the software again. ROCCAT has been able to impress me though with the software they provide with the Savu. The software for the Savu is not only very easy and intuitive to use, it also has some pretty neat features that I have not seen before and features like R.A.D. (ROCCAT Achievement Display) they are able to keep track of all the statistics of your mouse in a fun way.

The MSRP of the ROCCAT Savu would probably be my biggest complaint. At time of publishing we were able to find the Savu online for $69.99 which puts it into the range of a bunch of other gaming mice. I'm not saying that the Savu isn't worth that price, because I think it's a very solid product, I just think that at that price there is some very stiff competition and it makes your buying decision pretty tough. If this mouse was $49.99 USD I would say pull out your credit card right now, but a $69.99 price tag makes it a bit less of an impulse buy.

At the end of the day I must say that I am very happy with the ROCCAT Savu and for my first experience with a ROCCAT device I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. The Savu isn't the flashiest mouse available, but thanks to a boatload of features it performs like a champ while gaming while still being extremely comfortable. Thanks to the great performance and great build quality, the ROCCAT Savu has easily earned our "Editor's Choice - Gold" award and is very deserving of your consideration when you are shopping for a new gaming mouse.
