Testing:

Throughout the testing phase of Roccat's Raivo we find out that it isn't only aesthetics that this pad has going for it; it is very good at what it's designed to do. The surface lets you glide over it with your mouse and it offers little-to-no resistance.  It's taken a line out of the Borg collective "Resistance is futile" and marries that with good durability. It earns some major bonus points as well because it doesn't slip around on your desk when you are playing those intense games. It sticks to the surface of my desk like glue.

One of the claims made by Roccat is that the Raivo increases mouse speed, and I cannot deny this. It does seem to be faster than the conventional cheese-ball mouse pad.

This pad is also very easy to clean - just like they claim. I poured a decent amount of water over it and it doesn't soak into the surface at all and is very easy to remove and dry. Gamers and those that make erratic movements near their computers need to be especially careful as coffee will flow quite fast over this. If you spill on the pad, you'll have to act fast in order not to be dripped on.

As far as wear goes, this pad seems to be doing well, but my one concern would be that as it got older and started to wear, the edge of the pad may start to wear and warp. That being said, it hasn't been a problem at this point. The size of the Raivo is great for most gamers. It measures in at 350x270x2 mm and fits on most desks. Those with limited surface space, you might want to consider a smaller option though.

Pad Profile In Action

Conclusion:

Roccat's Raivo mouse pad lives up to their claims. It is flexible and yet stays firm, increases mouse speed - thanks to the very slick and smooth textured surface - and is easy to clean. The pad also sticks to the gaming surface well and doesn't move. This makes games such as first person shooters spot on. I couldn't find a flaw with this mouse pad, and it does all it is supposed to do. It does it all well, and is a very high quality product. The price won't kill you either. At ~$30 online right now, you can get a great pad that should last a long time - and provide you with a comfortable ride.  Well done Roccat!
