Introduction:
Today we'll be taking a look at the heavy Genius Maurus X Gaming Mouse. Genius started the GX Gaming series in 2011 specializing in customizable, ergonomic and affordable gaming peripherals. The GX Gaming series of products include Mice, keyboards, headsets/speakers and gaming surfaces.
"The Scorpion is employed as the spiritual symbol for the GX Gaming Series. The Scorpion, spawned from the frenzied flames burning throughout the underworld, has been through tremendous trials and tribulations and has risen from the burning embers as an immortal being. And so, with the GX Gaming Series, players can easily conquer all challenges that are cast their way just like the immortal Scorpion."
An impressive quote from the GX Gaming website. Let's see how the Maurus X performs.
First Look & Impressions:
Out of the box the first things I noticed was how large and heavy the Genius Maurus X Gaming Mouse is. This mouse has some serious weight to it. The total weight of the Maurus X is 178 grams and at 4.7 x 3.2 x 1.6 inches, the Maurus X is a truly a monster.
The Maurus X has a brilliant satin finish to it reminding me of a freshly waxed car. The grey scorpion graphic on the top of the mouse with the smooth finish and GX Gaming logo underneath it is an excellent touch.
Taking a closer look at the Genius Maurus X Gaming Mouse, it just looks and feels like a really well put together, high quality mouse. The sleek symmetrical design of the mouse means it is good for righties and lefties. The Maurus X has your standard left and right buttons, clickable scroll wheel, left and right thumb buttons and a DPI selector.
Looking at the front of the Maurus X, you'll notice the thin braided cable. The six foot long, high quality cable looks like it should last quite a long time. At the end of the cable we have a really nice gold plated USB connector with the Maurus X logos.
Turning the mouse over, I noticed there were no smooth feet. I don't know if this is an error or not but the packaging says it contains an extra footpad set. If there are no feet on the mouse itself, how is there an extra set? I guess I'll just have to use my "extra" set right now.
On the next page, we'll take a quick look at the features and specifications of this mouse before we jump into testing.
